Flying to space is a great feat but so is returning the astronauts safely back to earth. A lot of things happen to a spacecraft during re-entry. Since the spacecraft or space capsule is travelling at a great speed, as it enters the earth's atmosphere it creates a lot of heat and drag. The astronauts also experience a greater G-Force. The intense heat due to friction can send the temperature outside the capsule soaring to about 1600 degrees Celsius.
Since we will have an eggonaut on board the space capsule, students will have to figure out a way to save the eggonaut from boiling or heating up too much. That can be done using the right choice of materials sanwiched in such a way that it can withstand the heat of re-entry.
